Read YOUR lips

Hey everyone,

           Lip care is as important as your skin care. Maybe even more. The skin on your lips is made of just three layers, whereas, your face is made of 16 layers. Lips need more moisturisation than your face, mainly because they don't have sweat glands or sebaceous. Today I'm going to talk about various lip problems and how to deal with them.

1. Dryness: Dryness is one of the most common problems for our lips. Drinking too much coffee or tea, deficiency of vitamin B, winter are the general causes of this problem. You must apply a high SPF lip balms several times a day, especially after eating or drinking. You can also use some olive oil to keep your lips hydrated and speed up the healing process. Another thing you can do is have more of nuts and vitamin-rich foods.
Tip- Apply some petroleum jelly onto your lips and with a soft bristled toothbrush, slough off the dead cells very gently for instant soft and dewy lips.

2. Chapped or cracked lips: The main cause of chapped lips is over-licking of lips. Saliva has enzymes that break down your lips if you lick them too much. Cold temperature and deficiency of folic acid lead to chapped lips too. You should always apply petroleum jelly, in this case. And add a high SPF lip balm on top of that. To get rid of cracked lips, you should drink plenty of water and foods rich in vitamin C. And avoid salty stuff.
Tip- At night, before going to bed, apply some glycerin to your lips. It will keep your lips hydrated all night. Or squash a capsule of vitamin E into a dab of honey and apply to your lips.

3. Dark lips: Sun exposure, makeup allergies, hormonal changes or excessive smoking are some of the major causes of dark lips. Always use high quality brands' products on your lips. Never use a brand you don't trust. It causes major damage to your lips. To get rid of dark lips, you should gently exfoliate your lips regularly and follow up with a SPF lip balm to moisturize. Also massage your lips to regenerate skin cells. You should immediately cut smoking and caffeine intake if this is a major problem for you. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet of milk, fresh juices and fresh and leafy veggies.
Tip- Massage your lips with lemon juice or beetroot slices or almond oil or a mixture of honey and crushed rose petals.
